Route Description
This circular route begins in the charming village of Santa Marina de Valdeón, very close to the campsite, located in the heart of the valley and surrounded by a privileged natural environment. The trail starts from the centre of the village and, after leaving the last houses behind, enters mountain landscapes where tranquillity prevails.
The first notable landmark is the Collado de Valdeón, a natural pass that offers spectacular views over the valley and the surrounding peaks. From here, the path ascends gently towards Alto del Sedo, where the landscape opens up and allows you to enjoy the grandeur of the Picos de Europa.
Continuing along the trail, you reach Collado Remoña, one of the most beautiful points of the route, from which you can take in the vastness of the mountains—an ideal spot to stop and enjoy the silence and beauty of the surroundings.
The route continues to Fuente Pedavejo, a perfect place to refresh yourself and regain strength before starting the ascent through the Pedavejo channel. Surrounded by meadows and with views of the mountains, the spring is a spot traditionally frequented by hikers and shepherds.
The itinerary then indicates to climb up to the Alto de la Canal. At this point, on clear days, you have a privileged view of Collado Jermoso—the well-known refuge—and also of Vega de Liordes, an emblematic site where you can find everything from old mines to a shepherd’s hut. If you wish, you can descend to visit it, or otherwise continue with the route and begin the descent.
Finally, the trail descends gently back to Santa Marina de Valdeón, completing a route that combines the essence of the mountain landscape with the authenticity of the Valdeón valley. This is an ideal route for those who want to enjoy nature and discover some of the most beautiful corners of the area.
